John Solomon reports at The Hill that former FBI general counsel James Baker has admitted to Congress that he met with Democratic National Committee lawyer Michael Sussman of Perkins Coie in September 2016 and received "documents and a thumb drive related to Russian interference in the election, hacking and possible Trump connections."

This is a key addition to the mounting pile of evidence that the FBI was fully aware of the partisan political origins of the Trump-Russia allegations, and nevertheless advanced them as solid "intelligence" on applying to the FISA court for authorization to spy on the Trump team.

Solomon also discusses James Baker's communications with David Corn of Mother Jones, which I highlighted here, noting the incongruity, once upon a normal time, of an FBI general counsel in communication with a reporter from a far-Left publication that is a two-time "Izzy" winner, an award named for far-Left journalist and secret Soviet agent I.F. Stone.

Corn denies Baker was a source of this October 31 dossier story -- reporter-source being the assumed dynamic of conversation between these two men -- and maybe Corn is telling the truth. John Solomon further reports that Corn was a source for Baker!

Solomon's sources

confirm Baker admitted [to Congress] he received a version of Steele’s dossier from left-leaning reporter David Corn of Mother Jones magazine, and then forwarded it to Strzok’s team. Corn says that occurred in November 2016, right after the election.

That transaction is significant for two reasons. First, at the time Steele had just been fired from the FBI probe for leaking to the media and he wasn’t supposed to be further assisting the probe. So Corn essentially acted as a back door to allow information to continue to flow.

Secondly, the FBI was using the news media as an investigative source outside the normal chain of evidence.

Sounds as if James Baker was a point of access for the anti-Trump conspiracy at the FBI, just as Bruce Ohr was a point of access for the anti-Trump conspiracy at Justice, just as Jonathan Winer was a point of access for the anti-Trump conspiracy at the State Department.

For the record, note also that top DNC lawyer Michael Sussman of Perkins Coie enters the anti-Trump conspiracy well before his conversation with Baker in September 2016.

According to the debut of the unverified "Russian hacking" narrative in the Washington Post on June 14, 2016, it was Michael Sussman who got the call from DNC CEO Amy Dacey -- not the FBI -- in late April 2016 ater DNC tech people saw something amiss. Sussman brought in Crowdstrike, Crowdstrike wrote a report alleging "Russian hacking," and an unverified narrative was born.

That was easy (thanks, MSM).

Also in June 2016, Fusion GPS -- on behalf of the DNC and Hillary Clinton as brokered by Perkins Coie -- hired Christopher Steele to produce another unverified report, this one alleging not "Russian hacking," but rather "Russian collusion."

That was easy, too (thanks again, MSM).

Also in June 2016, as the New York Times reported in December 2016, the DNC, its lawyer, Michael Sussman, and senior FBI officials met for the first time.

Among the early requests at that meeting, according to participants: that the federal government make a quick “attribution” formally blaming actors with ties to Russian government for the attack to make clear that it was not routine hacking but foreign espionage.

“You have a presidential election underway here and you know that the Russians have hacked into the D.N.C.,” Mr. Sussmann said, recalling the message to the F.B.I. “We need to tell the American public that. And soon.”

"You," the FBI, "know" the Russians have hacked? How do "you know"? "You," the FBI, never examined the DNC server! (As I read the Times story, by the time of this first DNC-FBI meeting in June 2016, the entire DNC system had already been secretly replaced.)

If the FBI "knew" anything, it was only because of what the DNC and Michael Sussman and Crowdstrike told it to know. With the Bureau operating under the thumb of the DNC and Perkins Coie (read: HIllary Clinton/Obama administration), it is no wonder that the July 2016 murder of DNC official Seth Rich received no investigation. Wikileaks' Julian Assange has strongly implied that Rich was the source of the DNC emails (a leak, not a hack) which Wikileaks published, revealing all manner of DNC-Clinton corruption.

Seth Rich's murder remains unsolved. Julian Assange is forcibly cut off from the world, whereabouts unconfirmable. The anti-Trump conspirators still walk free.

The swamp is very deep.
