Despite the near-total blackout created by media suppression, vicious state propaganda and heartless disinterest, here is an update on the cruelty and lawlessness weaponized against a select group of American patriots who came to (or near) the US Capitol on January 6 to protest the electoral coup of November 3, 2020.
There are hundreds of such cases to choose from, all of them studies in police state brutality, prosecutorial madness and lives and families and businesses turned to ruin by a regime bent on eradicating political opposition.
Today's case is that of Thomas Caldwell, a decorated, twenty-year military veteran with no prior arrests.
Read "Free Thomas Caldwell. Now," my first post about Caldwell's case from the spring of 2021 here; but don't miss this extremely well-done Epoch Times account of the persecutions Thomas and Sharon Caldwell have undergone at the hands of the police state America has become. Also, please visit the Caldwell's website, SaveOurFarmVa, here.
Here is an update from Sharon Caldwell.
Hello Diana,
Thank you so much for your kind email and for thinking of us! I'm sorry I'm only getting back to you now -- it's been a crazy couple of weeks!
Tom & I are doing well. Tom is working almost non-stop with his attorney, Mr. David Fischer, to prepare for his trial which is scheduled to begin on September 26th of this year.
Tom's attorney (and the other defense attorneys in his case) had put forth several motions (three total) to request a change of venue from Washington DC to any other federal district outside of DC. We believe we have rock-solid reasons for a change of venue, but the judge denied all of these motions.
The defense attorneys also requested a stay or continuance of Tom's trial start date until AFTER the J6 Select Committee (or Unselect Committee as I like to call it) had completed all of its 'hearings' and reports. But the judge denied this also. It seems very curious to me that he would be willing to have this trial start in September right after the J6 Select Committee is supposed to release a whole bunch of their 'findings' and reports. In my view, the timing of this will only further taint the jury pool, but I don't get much of a say in this matter.
Therefore, we're preparing for a trial in DC -- and are praying that the jurors selected will be able & willing to discern the truth about Tom and his case. And that, once they have heard the truth, we pray that they will have the courage to do the right thing and fully acquit him.
This 'trial' has only made us stronger. Tom will never plead to anything that he has not done. I honestly feel that, in some small way, our current battle is really for all Americans who love this country -- and for all law-abiding citizens, like us, who desire not to be harassed by overreaching and corrupt elements of our government. One thing is for certain: no matter what happens, for me personally, I will do everything in my power (legally of course) to make sure this never again happens to other good citizens of our country. The way things stand right now, unfortunately, what has happened to us could so easily happen to anyone.
Thank you for your prayers and your interest in Tom's case.
