With Lahaina in ashes:
Actual reporter: At what point is the media going to be allowed to start reporting what's really going on?
Aide bot (Picture 1): The question is around access as it relates to media
Picture 2: Lahaina mayor bot whispers into gov bot's ear
Gov bot: ... We had a media gaggle with us on Saturday. To suggest we're not providing access is [shrugs] just simply inaccurate.
Actual reporter: Well, we're being turned away.
Gov bot (Picture 3): I'm glad you're being turned away. [break in audio] Feeding your desire to tell a story -- you, in particular -- at this moment is not my goal. My goal is to make sure people are protected, my people are protected.
UPDATE 8.24:
The link above to this exchange between an unnamed reporter and Governor of Hawaii Josh Green is no longer good. Further, I can no longer find the Tiktok I screenshot and transcribed. It appears to have been taken down.
However -- good news -- I am now able to fill in the edited "break in audio" noted above. With thanks to the RAIR Foundation, watch the TikTok on Rumble.
For those who still like to read their news in addition to watching it, let's pick up the governor again at the question: "At what point is the media going to be allowed to start reporting what's really going on?"
Gov Green: We had a media gaggle with us on Saturday. To suggest we're not providing access is [shrugs] just simply inaccurate.
Unnamed reporter: Well, we're being turned away.
Gov Green (Picture 3): I'm glad you're being turned away in this case because otherwise you'd be tromping on our dead neighbors. No [cutting off reporter]. I'll answer the question, you've done enough. That is what's happened. We've twice been in there, we've shown a great deal of pictures, there's footage. If you want to see the dust of those who've been lost, that's what you would see if you walked down there. Moreover, we do want to tell the stories, which is why we're here today. But a lot of the stories are very personal stories that people tell us in confidence. Because they don't know yet what they've lost. So, feeding your desire to tell a story -- you, in particular -- at this moment is not my goal. My goal is to make sure people are protected, my people are protected from the additional trauma. The stories can be told over the many months. Your desire to tell it on Day 5 when people are beginning to go through the worst psychological trauma of their lives is simply ugly.
