Jerome Corsi has all the details on the latest twist on the Obama-eligibility-turned-forgery story at WND.com, the uniquely indefatigable news site advancing this amazingly, shockingly, unconscionably non-covered story. WND.com, of course, also runs my syndicated column, and thank goodness since some undetermined number of my regular outlets declined to print (spiked) last week's entry, "Silence of the Lapdogs." Stalwarts newspapers who have bucked the self-censoring trend so far range from the Galesburg, Il. Register-Mail to the Pottstown, PA Mercury (Pottstown was the hometown of John O'Hara, a favorite of mine) to the folklorically named Black Hills Pioneer and Weekly Prospecter in Spearfish, SD.
Actually, those three are the only first newspapers to show up with last week's column in the Google news search. Then again, that search engine never indicates more than a few of the roughly 100 newspapers that run the column weekly. If any readers come across the Arpaio Posse column in their local papers, I'd be interested in hearing about it (email me at: deathofthegrownup@verizon.net).

Meanwhile, the overall blackout/chilling effect on this story did not go unnoticed. Last week, Lucianne.com stepped in to help pick up the slack while Thomas Lifson at American Thinker and Roger Kimball at Pajamas Media both weighed in to great effect.
And about that latest twist? With evidence that Obama's Selective Service Registration Card was forged, Sheriff Arpaio requested that the Selective Service permit the posse to see the original card on file. Corsi writes:
A three-sentence March 22 letter written on behalf of Selective Service Director Lawrence G. Romo, however, dismissed the request.
“This Agency has no evidence that President Obama’s 1980 registration is not authentic,” wrote Richard S. Flahavan, associate director of public & intergovernmental affairs. ...
No, but Sheriff Arpaio does!
“However, if you have any credible evidence to the contrary and believe that a Federal crime has been committed, we suggest that it be turned over immediately to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to pursue,” Flahavan said.

In response, Arpaio yesterday sent a second letter to Romo, requesting clarification.
“If your office has the original, authentic Selective Service registration form for Barack Obama from July 29, 1980, please indicate whether or not you are in possession of this document,” Arpaio wrote.
“If the document is in your possession, please make it available for inspection by my Sheriff’s Office investigators. We will travel to your facility to analyze it.”
Apraio gave Romo 10 days to respond.
